Found some great pieces of pyrite type ore walking around where the Chinese miners used to be. I found a 1 or 2 pound rock which appeared to be ore, looking closer on the outside I could see 1 set of fibers. They were coming out and running back into the rock they looked like copper wires but not copper colored. When I cracked it open at home tons of fibers were inside the rock they are soft and break apart when touched. Has anyone seen anything like this?

Does it smell like asbestos?
Joking, please don’t smell it. It looks like if could be organic (roots?) but if not that, my only other guess would be asbestos.

Feels like wood and is colored like wood but wouldn't it be fossilized if it was locked inside metal ore. I immediately though asbestos too for some reason. Lol

tree roots can reach pretty far. And if you didn’t break it out of the host rock, it could have been exposed and stuff could have grown over it.

Try hitting it with a lighter and see if it burns? Just do it safely where you’re not inhaling anything

It did burn and held a flame when I put a strand together I guess it's just wood after all just very old it almost turns into dust when u rub it between ur fingers.
