Midwest Hunting???

Hi, I'm from the Midwest and was wondering what banks or areas people have had the best or worst luck at. Thanks and have a good day.

The Midwest covers a big area. IMO, if you are buying boxes, then it makes little difference which bank you buy from. The results are more related to how highly concentrated the population is, tourist traffic, and money flowing in and out. Plus, which banking district are you in?

If I were a new member just starting out, like others here have suggested, the best advice would be to read, read, and read past topics and replies.

And get out and visit banks; ask for coin, and check out where the best silver veins are at.

Anyone on this forum that has been successful has had to do that.

So do your homework !

Most people here aren't going to give away info that will bring them competition.

Not to mention the fact that even if someone here were to tell you all the specifics about their area, there is about a 98% chance that it wouldnt help you a bit. Everywhere is different. So unless the person who answers your question lives in the same neighborhood you live in, the information you get from them would be useless to you. You dont have very many options here, other than going out and pounding the pavement, just like every successful CRH'er in here has done.

Well in Indiana, Regions are the best pick up bank, while the rest of other banks are BAD !!
I scored 3 full solid Halves rolls, from 3 different Regions last week. Also scored quite a few loose Silver halves/ Ike dollar ( yes , silver !!! ) in teller's tray ,at other Regions ( $82.50 f/v of 40% n $54 of 90% ) !!!
I also got 1 solid roll of Merc. Dime out of $285 CWR plus $33 F/v of silver dimes , all from REgions!!
All of those in 1 week!!

So ya, visit Regions , while you are in Indiana!!

P/S - Don't be afraid to step into my Territories, as there are plenty of Regions here in Indiana !!

And.....Also beware of other Coin Roll Hunters (CRH'ers) that give you tips on banks, because they might be sending you to their dump banks in order to keep you away from their ordering banks.

Let the CRH'er beware.

I've yet to get a single half dollar of any kind from a Regions....

Like the other posters have said, what works for us might not work for you. It is impossible to know which banks have silver without going and checking them. A bank with no halves at all an hour ago could have gotten a collection dump of 5 solid Walking Liberties 15 minutes after you left. That is why most of us check all the banks in an area fairly frequently. It is also impossible to say which banks have free coin counters and which ones will charge you a fee because every branch is different. Every branch has different people working in it and is designed to service different customers. The bank with a coin counter which fills the bag at $500 of halves isn't going to really want you dumping $1500 there. On the other hand, a bank with a coin counter that fills the bag at $2000 might not mind it as much. Similarly, the bank with a lot of room in their vault for boxes of coin and who regularly orders coin, isn't going to mind getting you a box of halves. On the other hand, a bank which maybe gets a few boxes of pennies, dimes and quarters every two to three weeks and is a tiny bank where space is at a premium isn't going to be the most happy about ordering you boxes of halves. You need to know your bank and know your tellers, and no one can tell you how they will act/react, you have to do that yourself.
