great find my friend

The 1804 reverse side has a skewed left denominator, on a 1804 the first 0 in 100 does not line up underneath the numerator 1, it is skewed left, on your coin it appears to be almost centered under the 1. Has to be another year. http://www.largecents.net/collection/coinpics/s266c.jpg

It's 1801. The last digit is too close to the 0 to be a 4.

Thanks for the info guys i see how the 1 on the 1804 is not directly over the zero on the reverse side. It is my oldest cling still looking for that 1700's coin.

Looks like 1801. Looked at it for about 1/2 hr. Will look at it again tomarow. Couldn't ID variety. Eyes going buggy! Cleaner pics would help. Definitely 1801.

There is at least four major varieties of the 1801, 1802, 1803Looks like it maybe small Fraction, With Stems, If it is a Large Date 1801 Cha Ching $$$$$$$$

Regardless of the year or variety, that is one fine-looking coin.

Glad you picked up that coin
It's the oldest positive date coin other than the maravedi-

I say 1801. Corroded but in great condition for underground copper. Congrats on the find!!

I found an 1802 LC a couple weeks ago, and an 1838. The ground just isn't kind to those old coppers...

Great find. You're knocking on the door of the 1700's. It'll open up soon enough!

Thanks for those pics James and the opportunity to dig with ya on sunday, maybe next time we will have better weather. My phone takes terrible pics the lens is all scratched. I tried using a real camera on these pics and still couldn't get good Images.

Got it! Sheldon 216....Very Common. Any of the 3 I was looking at were Very Common......S-216....S-222....S-224. Yours is the 216. Don or IP should confirm this. Thanks for reposting better pics.............Hogge P.S.-----Under further examination( and a message from Don), I'm changing my assumption to S-216. Fraction bar and spacing wasn't right for the 224. Definitely has to be either of the 3 .as the obverse matches. Still don't like the spacing on the lettering in "one cent".
