Military Button question

Any thoughts? Would this be older than the general service button of the early 20th century?

This is a U. S. Army general service eagle button, a design in use from 1854 to 1902. I believe that it may be postwar, but it would be helpful to see the backmark.

Based on the design of the shield.. it looks to be Indian Wars or later.. they are generally more pointed then the Civil War period Eagle Buttons..
