I got out for a short time after work to a site that has only given up pre CW era stuff. I dug this brass item that appears to be military. As you can see it has the eagle over a wreath, but also has sun rays ???

I thought at first that it may be part of a rosette, but it has a lip on the edge which makes me wonder if it was a hinged item at one time. This one sure has me stumped!!

Nice! :icon_thumleft: It reminds me of a picture I saw of a brass compass. So here it is FWIW

It is listed as 1 3/4" in diameter.

Hmmm, now that seems to make sense! I am going to look into it!
