Got out into the water once again today... And once again my CTX 30 30 came through again with some very old Gold. I wandered around for a while as the tide was to high to get out where I needed to be.... a quarter here and a then a few pennies... I dug some old bullets and a Buffalo Nickel, and then a nice low but very strong tone.... BANG! in the scoop staring up at me what was I came after... Gold and it was old... Beautiful blue Pearl set in a 10 K Gold Band... I love this machine... Can't wait for tomorrow already... Gold Fever has set in again. It's interesting that you're not notching out pennies. I think some CTX users may be missing out by trusting that it is indeed a penny. My hunting partner has found 5 or 6 gold with his CTX that registered as pennies. Nice find. But then you always do exceptional. A true master of the hunt.

Indeed you are correct, some pennies are within that gold range at times.... I hunt all metal mode mostly... I sometimes switch over to discrim if there seems to be a lot of nails, or iron in that area... But I always seem to dig it all if is a good repeatable signal... More times than NOT I am rewarded with something that someone would have passed by... I am loving the CTX 30 30 and for the record... its paid for itself within 2 months of purchasing it...Happy Hunting my friend...

Nice oldie! WTG!!

Last summer I hit a 10k 10.5 gram class ring. Screaming like a penny ... zinc... on my excal II. Screaming. And low an behold it was a ring. lol. hh an gl.

@ Whydah Awesome find. Looks really old an cool.

I got an 8.6 gram, 10k gold ban last year that was a solid high tone on my CZ21 and it reads 76 on my AT pro, which is the same as a zinc penny.

I can't wait for your next post, you are killing it again Wydah, keep it going!

Thanks OBN... Can't wait for the Winter months with the erosion...:)

Its got to be something in the alloy they make the gold with. Its why I just can't pass up obvious pennies. lol. hh an gl -Joe

Nice find !!! I dig almost everything but it's strange that Gold has different sounds in the low to mid range, you would think Gold would sound high because it is so conductive.

WHYDA: I suspect that it is the other way around: Some gold because of it's alloy is within the penny range. E.G. Rose gold is alloyed with copper to obtain it's warm reddish color.
