Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with using waterproof earbuds and 1/4 inch adapter to go detecting underwater. I know I would have to take out the headphone module first. I know they make waterproof earbuds, but I am not sure about the adapter. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks,

Ive never seen those but then again I dont have that machine. Sounds like a very cool idea I like having a good set of headphones nice & light my v3i headphones r very hot in the heat my deus ones nice & light alot easier to use when its warm I can only imagine nice ear buds those would b great

I use earbuds with my wireless module now, I love it especially since this summer its been so hot! You could use a 1/4 inch adapter on your v3i and use earbuds. Its much better than the other headphones. Light and not to warm! I just wonder if I was to use waterproof earbuds would I need a waterproof adapter or would it be okay?

If you are truly worried about water, you don't want to use the wireless module. You need to plug directly to the waterproof connection under the stock 1/4" plug module on the back of the CTX.

If you get the correct connector to screw on the back of the CTX you can either solder a pigtail with 1/4" female to it, allowing you to plug anything in with adapters. Or solder the wires from waterproof buds to directly to the waterproof connector.

There are posts detailing this on this on some of the CTX forums.

I am aware that the wireless module is not waterproof. What I am trying to find out is do they make a waterproof adapter that I can use with waterproof earbuds and go under water with it? Has anybody else ever used waterproof earbuds with the ctx3030? Or do I have to get the waterproof headphones and cut off the plug and solder the connection to the 3.5mm plug? Thanks for helping.

Dave, the connector has been used to make the Gray Ghost UW heads, so someone found the connector or got it from Minelab. Easiest solution is to buy the Koss / Minelab UW heads and use the connector. One of the guys in FL made a pigtail that allowed the UW connection to hook up to a standard jack..

No reason to by the expensive headphones just to cut the connector off. Just buy the connector and solder either a plug or the earbuds to it.
