Minelab Excal in Dominican Republic

This time next month I'll be in the Dominican Republic with the used Minelab Excal that I purchased. This will be the first time I'm giving the Excal a full workout. I currently use a DFX on the land which is 99% of the hunting I do. One day I'll justify buying a Etrac but not just yet.

Any last minute tips on the Excal, water hunting or DR??

Only advice I can give is make sure you wear a personal floatation device, I.e. A life jacket.

Keep the disc very low, like ONE so you can still hear pull tabs which will sound a lot like gold rings till your ears learn the diff. Keep the coil level and don't swing fast. If you are new to using it you should keep it in AUTO. You pinpoint off the tip or heel. Forget wasting time going into pinpoint mode, it's not needed.

When you get a ring, don't study it but slip it into your pouch like it was trash. You never know who is watching you.
