Minelab Excalibur II

I am new to the hobby, I purchased an excalibur II. I was wndering if anyone had a chart or researched to find the best settings with all the knobs to locate certain items. Does it just take experience? Or does anyone out there have any tips that may be useful for me to get a better start?
