I'm putting this here because I just "found" it, sorta, at my Mother-in-law's house. Her longtime live in boyfriend detects with an ace250. Tow nights ago, he tells me he bought a Bounty Hunter, and found a "My-something or other at a yardsale".
I said "Minelab?". Yeah, that was it. So today I stop in and show him my 1929 Standing Liberty that I found, and he shows me the Minelab.
I told him it was a top of the line detector company and asked if it works. He doesn't know. He bought it 2 YRS ago and it's been sitting in the corner.
I took it home to research it and try to get it working. I have no experience with Minelab. I pop out the rechargable batts (not corroded), put in 8 duracells and light it up. Watched a youtube video on it and took it outside, threw my MXT headphones on it and found a couple coins in my yard. Works perfect. It has a scratch across the LED.
I can't wait to tell him it's a $1200 (new) machine that he paid a whopping -------------- $10.00 -------------- for. So, it's HIS find, not mine, but I had to share.

Yes, I'm going to return it to him. :laughing7:

WOW what an amazing find!!!

You just never know what's gonna pop up that someone else no idea about. Incredible find...

I currently own two Minelab Explorer II's and have purchased probably 5 or six of them for other folks. They are a very fine machine once you get them figured out. A bit heavy and slow on the recovery speed but, will find some deep old coins and loves silver. There should still be some YouTube videos out there that may help provide some pointers for settings. They still bring over $400.00 dollars used on E-bay. Damn fine find for $10.00 bucks.

Here's a video I made while using my old Explorer II. A pair of my better recoveries on this one.

That is a great "find". Guess you could ask him what he wants for it.

I bet they were wondering why he was running back to the car after he paid for it ! Great find, and anyone would have jumped at that. One of my detectors is the Minelab Explorer SE Pro, so if I would have bought that in a heartbeat. I did pick up a vintage 1972 model detector at a garage sale for a $1.00 a few years back. I dont use it, but it looks great on the bottom shelf of one of my antique display cases.

Looks in great shape too! Nice $10 buy.

$10?! If he let it sit for 2 years in the corner, offer him some dough for that thing and put it to good use.

Fantastic find for $10.00!! I'd be all over that one.

Now tell him to trade it for an F75 with a NEL Tornado STAT! haha

He is very lucky that you're such an honest man! :icon_thumright:

A great find for sure, a lot of guys here on the west coast use them, myself included. Tell him don't give up and good luck!
