Just picked up an old Minelab Goldseekers 15000. I bought it mainly because I am a Minelab fan and I know it was their first unit. I assume it operates at 15KHZ, so I am thinking it might be pretty sensitive to small nuggets. How would it stack up to the X-terra 70 with the 5" dd 10KHZ coil for instance? In short is this unit in any way still viable as say, a back-up or loaner detector? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't loan this to a friend or relative, unless you have a brother in law like mine. It is way to heavy and eats batteries. It doesn't come near the newer Minelabs.

Ok if a 15000 is old I have a 17000 XT hanging on the wall it worked great up until it's battery case went south. Where can one fond the battery cluster for this unit or is it obsolete? If anybody has any ideas let me know I may be reached at sdaupanner@msn.com.
