DFX-Greg,

great finds, i am very curious here though as to why you feel the NEED to prove to everyone the quality of the DFX ? again it's a fine machine ... no one is bashing it, if you remember the original post was to point out the differences between the machines - that's all

also, you own a White's DFX, it's very clear from your posts that you don't want an Explorer SE, you don't care for the Minelabs and you are completely happy with your DFX -

the question then is why are you posting in the Minelab forum ?
am I missing something here ?

??? ??? ??? ???

vprone the title did it....explorer vs dfx.... you made the comments I just quoted what you said... ;)

He likes to stir the pot. I feel the same way about Whites products but don't voice my opinion because of censorship reasons.

amazing that you have not posted a single pic of your finds this year...or did I miss the one or two you posted? ??? ??? ???

Greg, I stopped posting my finds after the change of wording in the TOS agreement. I think what my little ol' Explorer finds might just surprise you.

Dave what were the changes? < TOS ... It's amazing how a few people instead of enjoying the debates among detectors say bad thing about their own detector and then still get mad! ;D

Erikk I would not be amazed at all...I read through the explorer classroom (you know which site) you post sometimes or used to when you had a dfx do you still have?

I have received tons of private and e-mail messages from different explorer users...so I know what the weaknesses are! Just like any detector it has its strengths and weaknesses. Hey guys...hopefully everyone realizes what Dave said is true, stirring the pot to make conversation is what it is all about! I am out there working hard to find stuff...I see some people posting when they have been out 3 times but make all these off the wall comments..that is what makes these forums so much fun! I hope you guys using the explorers find a ton! I love the pictures, do not care which detector it is!! :) :) :) So everyone lets have some fun and get out there and hunt!

Not impressed DFX-Greg. It looks like it's all clad, some not even dirty

from laying on top of the ground. The DFX is a GREAT clad machine because you can sweep fast, cover a lot of ground, and pick up those sitting ducks 1-4 inches deep. You can have some of the settings off and still pick those up. You are a good example of what a DFX can do. Nobody is denying that. A lot of clad in a short amount of time...that's what we're all saying here on the MINELAB forum. Good Day.

Agree have a good one, also for some reason i have had some steady finds up to 6.0, but remember I am only using the 5.3 Eclipse...so I am sacrificing depth...and know it! You are right though...about 70-80% of my finds are 0.0 to 4.0...good point! :)Enjoy and good luck!

Re: MINELAB SE VS WHITE'S DFX

Ford or Chevy, Blond or Brunet, Whites or Minelab, we all have our preferences but it's the choices and the differences in the choices that makes exploring life so much fun.

I LOVE THEM ALL! ;D

I've notcied when threatened

by the Explorer people come out against it and like to knock it, don't pay attention why a question was asked and always has a phrase "using your words". I went to a site and DFX Gregg had trouble with depth so I guess the DFX doesn't go deep, HIS words not mine. I have owned a DFX and used it and sold it. I am very happy with the Explorer and I enjoyed your post vpone and the fact you pointed out your positive views and then have to read the crap from people thinking you were bashing thier DFX's. Very honest and it shows you posted the good and bad about both detectors in your opinion from your experience. I also enjoy the fact it was not negative but a positive post about what you like and dislike. Thanks for a great post!!

Hey DFX Gregg...

nice bunch of clad but I could have found that with my Ace 250. The picture posted is the silver I found last year with my Minelab. Now I wasn't a member of TNet but every coin was posted on other forums during the course of the year. You visit some of those forums so you may heve seen these coins before.

i appreciate the post. thank you for your opinion... i am looking to buy something new, and the more informed i am the better... funny how there is so much product loyalty in this hobby..
Hey fd3615 I also note this product loyalty and understand it a little but personally I am me loyal. Something comes out that is better than my Explorer I will buy and use that. For the longest time I felt my XLT was tops and it was great for me. I had nice silver counts and nice coin counts. First year with my Explorer in 2001 had 360 silver coins and been a believer ever since but if I feel there is a better detector than the one I have I'm buying it. This market produces great machines and what I can do now compared to the Whites I had in 1983 is nothing less than amazing. Now I left a couple posts to DFX Gregg and sure I will hear something because he is definately product loyal, but thats good if it works for him and I know we approach detecting differently. He hunts in newer areas(his words) and most of what he finds is clad, why, because he is hunting the newer Parks(correct me if wrong). When I hunt newer Parks I find a ton of clad and little silver as well! This year I bought an Ace 250(wow, not Minelab) and have used it alot and have decent coin counts, but I would prefer quality over quanity. Summer and heat here so many areas I want to hunt will have to wait until Fall when the ground is not so dry!

nice silver !

hey NICE pile of silver !!
now those DFX's would never be able to compete with an SE !!!!

HA ! I'M KIDDING OF COURSE

there are good points and bad points of both machines - i like my SE compared to the DFX and do feel it was well worth the switch

:) i have no product loyalty, i like to keep up to date and with that being said, when the next evolution of the DFX comes out - i'll definately be test driving one ... if i'm correct, the DFX design is almost 4-5 years old (i believe?) - so there has to be something in the pipeline there but white's is pretty hush, hush on that stuff ...

Hey vpone, I know I will get a response from DFX Gregg and also feel I shouldn't have struck a little low by mentioning the Ace 250. I just don't understand some things. When someone is forking out big bucks I would prefer to see a post from a person pointing things out thru his experience with a certain detector, not bad mouthing another brand. This "his words, not mine" crap means nothing because you just don't know why the person was venting, or if the person had a problem and made a post to seek help, to just cherry pick a negative line and then say, "his words, not mine" is cheap. Just say here is what I know about my detector and let the person spending the money make a decision based on the great information offered, not cloud it up with BS!!

EVERY top of the line detector has great points and bad points, EVERY ONE of them!! The DFX is not always the right detector for every person, just as the Explorer isn't, or a CZ, or the Shadow X-5, and I can go on and on!! Each person is different and sometimes it might take buying a couple detectors, usually a mid-range works better because you would know if you like how the machine works and want to upgrade. DFX Gregg can be extremely helpful being more positive and stop dumping on other brands and just saying here is what I know with the DFX from my experience and not making a list cherry picked. Anyways, I did enjoy your post!!

Re: MINELAB SE VS WHITE'S DFX

My reply is>>>today I continued to learn and unleash the power of the dfx. Jack I think it was you that mentioned that the soil is extremely dry....same here! :(

But I decided that the small 5.3 coil had to come off...honestly my depth was down to 3.0! ??? The soil so dry and compacted that I was not able to have a 100 coin day last week, my first week not having one since January.

So the changes i made...First until it rains I dumped my modified coin program, then I decided to go back to the stock coil. With the ground being so dry the ground penetration still is not great but it helped. The EEPROM hi -trash program helped, I think I need to rely more on the pro options programs, even though my tweaking seems effective.

Again the flexibility of the dfx wins for me 108 coins today. Yes again a modern park that is what I hunt. I have changed my goal to 8000 coins for year, but really looking at 10,000. Well honestly Monty mentioned hitting 12,000 one year on the findmall forum....but not sure hunting 3x a week, 3 hours a hunt is gonna get me there! UK Brian claims 10,000 is nothing special...so I guess I am making my goal cross out 8,000....10,000 for the year. As far as the detector comments. I never owned a Minelab exploder...and never will....all the comments I quote are from Minelab users....none are my comments....they are straight from the mouth of explorer users.

Gregg, I honestly feel when people ask about a certain detector this is what they want to hear, what you know from experience, not a negative clip froma Minelab user, especially when you don't give a reason why the person said it because it may not reflect how the person actually feels.

I am also surprised you were getting that shallow depth, my freind has the same coil and tho he has commented on a depth problem from the dry soil. I'll see him tomorrow and ask, just to see how shallow he's gotten with his small coil as a comparrison! I also don't see why 10,000 is out of the question as long as you get out as often as you do, which is never enough(as far as I feel).

Re: MINELAB SE VS WHITE'S DFX

Well I was getting as deep on a regular basis as 6.5, my deepest hit with the 5.3 has been 7.5 Bur that all changed last week when soil became so dry and compacted. I went over an area where there had to be coins and got no signals! ??? This is not at one of the parks where there are other hunters.... All of a sudden 3.0 was it and that was with grass more like 2.0....when ground is wet the 5.3 coil is a monster..but right now it is strictly surface clad only! Also sending you a personal message give me your opinion.....

Re: MINELAB SE VS WHITE'S DFX
