Detector(s) used
Minelab Sovereign GT, Excalibur 11, Fisher F75
I should know this having used this machine for almost a year now. If someone could tell me why every time I come close to a fire ring with ashes from the pit. The sovereign will go blank just as it does when passing over iron? Once past it works as it should. I would like your opinions.

Thanks

It is the minerals of the ashes that do this just like it will with small iron.

Suggest you read Clive James Clynick's books on the Sovereign and Excalibur.

Back in Kansas years ago they used coke in the heaters to heat the schools and also used in most farm houses, well the burned coke was thrown out in the yards so it causes a lot of detectors to go crazy from the mineralization in the coke! Bill

That must explain why mine went crazy at this old house in town here, everywhere. Lots of silencing and spotty signals everywhere.
