I have been looking for batteries for my old, but loved, xs. The old batteries are nicd 70AAS 1.2 V 700mAh.
Question 1. can I change to the newer nimh?
2. can I up the mAh to say 1500?
3. what is the name of the connector on the battery pack?

I have found a battery pack that has a higher mAh but they want to know what kind of connector to put on the pack.

Hi, yes for question 1. You can use batteries with a higher capacity or current rating. So long as the voltage is the same. With a higher capacity battery pack you will get more hours of operation as well which is a bonus in the field.
The only thing maybe that you may want to update your charger. If you use the same charger as for the Nicads it will take a lot longer.
There are some smart chargers out there especially designed to cater for Nimh's ..
Would you feel confident in soldering on a new connector your self ?
If not that's ok, do you have a picture of the connector and see if us lot here can identify it
