Miscanthus is being called a the greatest source of ethanol producing grass in the world. It is not an edible food crop, but can produce staggering amounts of ethanol fro its process. It is already being used in the EU for power plant and heating, as well as producing ethanol. This will surely replace corn,switch grass and all other grasses, as it becomes more widely available. Surely it will not be any worse than kudzu, or nutria, water hyacynth, killer bees or fire ants! Well heck I say lets grow it,, who needs to worry about that!
Think it would do okay in climates like the east coast? I see fields of greeen.......

I haven't tried it personally,but those who grow it claim it will grow anywhere,even where most grasses won't.Needs very little water and is a fast growing grass. Also, it is claimed to be a non invasive species of grass.Not edible, but excellent for producing ethanol.Good Luck. rockhound

There is also another weed that will produce massive oil for biodiesel and other uses. It is called Hemp. Ther is a non smoking and additive stand that is used all over Europe to produce power and heat. It is also used in making clothing,which is tougher and softer than cotton. It is also a very good rope material andhas been used as such for thousands of years. It is a weed and will also frow almost anywhere. When our fossil fuels become unavailable or hard to obtain due to economic conditions,war or disasters,ther is an alternative fuel we can use. It is called wood gas, and can be used in everything with an ICE or turbine engine. It can run a generator,tractor or vehicle or earlier vintage,without all the computer electronics on board.
