Here's the latest efforts, the hammered coin is a short cross of probably John moneyer Able, London mint.

Robert.

It certainly beats watching tv Allen :D

How can you say that when we have programs like Dancing On Ice :laughing9:

Did you know my Minelab suit doubles as a Skating outfit?
Oh Gawd I just read this! hahahaha :laughing9:
That, is a scary thought!

Don't worry, it's nothing gay, just speed skating. ;D

Will you be skating in the olympics in Vancouver? ::)

Nope. Too busy training for April .... The Romeo Olympics! I have some payback to give if you happen to notice the bottom left of the T-net where he keeps reminding me!

Some pics of the coin. King John 1199-1216 silver penny, London mint, moneyer Abel.

Robert.
Great coin Rob...wants some bleach on the bottom

SS

Does bleach work well for removing oxidation from silver coins?

I would love to know the answer to this question as well.
Great finds Rob! I love the hammered.
Cheers,
Dave.
The bleach blackens the Silver, highlighting the legends, but it can also removes Iron staining :icon_thumleft:

Thanks! I was hoping there was something to take that heavy tarnish off. Hard stuff like silver that has been sitting in water for years.
I do get the odd silver with a rust stain on it, so now I know to try bleach. :)
Dave.
Muddy....I have had Silver coins in lemon juice for two weeks :-\ trying to remove staining, some times you can't remove it, or at least I couldn't on this one :'(

Great coin Rob...wants some bleach on the bottom  Nice cut half Colin, without trauling through my Seaby's what is it (looks Norman /late Saxon). Send it down to me I will clean it using electrolysis (best way by far on good quality silver coins only) lemon juice is only good on pancakes. :D
