Hello all, I found these two coins a few yards apart on the same field a while ago. The roman coin was probably lost about 1700 years ago,the modern half pence piece was probably lost about 20 years ago. Looks like we no longer make coins to last any more. Do modern US coins last any longer in the soil than ours in England ?.

HH Robert.

Depends on the composition of the coins. Our Zinc pennies hardly last a couple years in the ground.

I have dug some pretty rough looking clad dimes and quarters that have only been in the ground a few years. I would think that after 40-50 years you can pretty much say that they are history
