Folks, I was interviewed about a month ago by our local paper about my hobby, some of my finds, and some of the donations I've made to the museum.
The story went in the paper yesterday, AND I even made front page.
Hopefully I did our hobby proud. ;D  (Sorry ladies, that is not Brad Pitt ;D )
Since the newspaper site isn't set up to just let you click on the link & read the story, I took photos of the actual paper and article. Sorry, but it's the best I could do. :tongue3:
Since the article I now have permission to detect a house built in 1804 and one built in 1875.
Here are a few finds I made in about an hour after work yesterday at the 1804 house.

*1954 Rosie

*1919 Wheat

*Lead RR seal - Any ideas on what railroad this was? It has "R & A. A. L. RR"

*Victorian era brooch

*Lead dog.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Congrats MM on your finds and giving our hobby great press. The article may open some doors for you around there. What color dress did you wear for the occasion-LOL.

Good article. Hopefully you don't get a bunch of copy cats that start ruining your good name. The part about the silver sneakers is so true. Last year I hunted an old house that the owner said had never been hunted as far as she knew. (She lived there for over 40 years.) Not one silver coin. I found 8 wheat pennies, a token, several other things, but no silver. I'm reasonably sure someone did that to her yard. Anyway, Great article and congrats! I hope you get some more good contacts out of it.

Doug gets his 15 minutes of fame. I hope your head doesn't get too big for your headphones. :tongue3: Congrats on a great story.

Too late. His head is huge already. He needs to wear a neck brace to keep that melon stable... :tongue3: ;D

Doug, wonderful article
You'll be getting so many calls you'll be able to choose where you want to hunt

Take care & Happy Easter!

Great job MM on making the cover of the Newspaper ... I agree with Tony, you did NC proud and maybe helped put our metal detecting hobby in a little better perspective with the public ... again, congratz and good job!~ Jimmy

Definitely well deserved

Good Job. You make us all look good.

Doug you are still my Hero.....

Very cool, Doug.

You're definitely a celebrity in your town. If you went to a local park in town with your detector, you'd probably get 100 different people walk up to you and say, "You're the guy I read about in the paper!". :icon_king: :icon_king:

Congrats, buddy!!
