Folks, I was interviewed about a month ago by our local paper about my hobby, some of my finds, and some of the donations I've made to the museum.
The story went in the paper yesterday, AND I even made front page.
Hopefully I did our hobby proud. ;D  (Sorry ladies, that is not Brad Pitt ;D )
Since the newspaper site isn't set up to just let you click on the link & read the story, I took photos of the actual paper and article. Sorry, but it's the best I could do. :tongue3:
Since the article I now have permission to detect a house built in 1804 and one built in 1875.
Here are a few finds I made in about an hour after work yesterday at the 1804 house.

*1954 Rosie

*1919 Wheat

*Lead RR seal - Any ideas on what railroad this was? It has "R & A. A. L. RR"

*Victorian era brooch

*Lead dog.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Congrats on the fine write-up in your local paper MM. WTG!!
Wish our town paper would do something like that for our area.
Some good will and kudos will never hurt our hobbie.
Great post........ Gold Nuggets :icon_jokercolor:

Wonderful PR.

Thanks Buddy,

Good on you Mate, MM
It's good to see the well-deserved recognition of your achievements from the general community - not just us lot :tongue3:

I'm still researching your railroad seal; it's a triki one.

So far, I can confirm that the Railroad existed in 1878, in Chatham County, North Carolina ;D

I shall continue :icon_study:

Good work.

I'm just working on my lastest display for the Local Museum myself. Its going to be Buckles though the ages, replacing my button one which has been there some years.

Great article , you did us all proud.........

Its also great that the article said " you took the trash with you and filled your holes"

It lets some people know a lot of us follow the" rules"........ :coffee2:

Great article!
You are an asset to the hobby and your town.
Congratulations.

Very cool, Doug.

You're definitely a celebrity in your town. If you went to a local park in town with your detector, you'd probably get 100 different people walk up to you and say, "You're the guy I read about in the paper!". :icon_king: :icon_king:

Congrats, buddy!!

Dan,
That would be a big change for me. I normally get, "hey, you're the guy who's picture is in the post office." :tongue3: :tard:

Thanks Cru,
I work for a company bases out of the UK, and am always telling them about the great old stuff you find over there.
Can we see a picture of the buckle display when you get it done? I'd love to see it.
