Folks, I was interviewed about a month ago by our local paper about my hobby, some of my finds, and some of the donations I've made to the museum.
The story went in the paper yesterday, AND I even made front page.
Hopefully I did our hobby proud. ;D  (Sorry ladies, that is not Brad Pitt ;D )
Since the newspaper site isn't set up to just let you click on the link & read the story, I took photos of the actual paper and article. Sorry, but it's the best I could do. :tongue3:
Since the article I now have permission to detect a house built in 1804 and one built in 1875.
Here are a few finds I made in about an hour after work yesterday at the 1804 house.

*1954 Rosie

*1919 Wheat

*Lead RR seal - Any ideas on what railroad this was? It has "R & A. A. L. RR"

*Victorian era brooch

*Lead dog.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Great article , you did us all proud.........

Its also great that the article said " you took the trash with you and filled your holes"

It lets some people know a lot of us follow the" rules"........ :coffee2:
Thanks SGW,
You are totally correct. At least folks will see that some of us take the hobby serious and follow the rules. I mentioned that we had a "code of ethics" and the reporter couldn't believe it. :o ;D

I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL FOR THE GREAT COMMENTS.
I WAS HOPING TO GET THE WORD OUT TO SOME OF THE PROPERTY OWNERS OUT THERE THAT WE ARE NOT LAND PIRATES LIKE SOME OF THEM SEEM TO THINK.
THE ONLY PART THAT WAS LEFT OFF THE STORY THAT I WAS HOPING HE WOULD OF PUT IN THERE WAS THAT THESE RELICS ARE DOING NO ONE ANY GOOD BEING LEFT IN THE GROUND TO CONTINUE TO ROT AWAY. OH WELL, I THINK HE DID A GREAT JOB AT PUTTING US IN A GOOD LIGHT.
HE WAS CLEVER AT GETTING MY PHONE # PUT IN THE ARTICLE, WHICH WOULD NORMALLY BE CUT RIGHT AWAY FROM A STORY.
I GAVE THE REPORTER 3 CW BULLETS TOO TO SHOW MY APPRECIATION.

Good work.

I'm just working on my lastest display for the Local Museum myself. Its going to be Buckles though the ages, replacing my button one which has been there some years.

Thanks Cru,
I work for a company bases out of the UK, and am always telling them about the great old stuff you find over there.
Can we see a picture of the buckle display when you get it done? I'd love to see it.
-Doug-

Yeah, I'll do a picture when done.

Thanks everyone.
I actually detected the owner of the newspapers lawn today. It was an 1875 house, but only coughed up a few wheats and a couple of relics. :(

Uereka Doug ;D

It took a fair bit of 'digging' but I believe your Lead seal is from the Richmond & Atlanta Air Line Rail Road :icon_sunny:
Very little information on it and I found more references to Atlanta & Richmond Air Line Rail Road
but Hey, The New York Times can't be wrong - can they?
