Mold Error Boston Blob Top Beer: Backwards ‘TS’ For Eliot St

I can’t find any information on this mold error variant on the web. ‘ST’ is in reverse order and embossed ‘TS’. Hoping one of the experts here has any more information on this particular one. Error bottles are a favorite category for me. Thanks and best luck on your hunts.

Interesting error. I don't know about the error or if there are other bottles without the error, but Jacob Wirth just made local news this past week. Maybe when it opens up again, they may be interested in buying it from you for their new place.

Jacob Wirth, a German beer hall in Boston's theater district dating back to the 1860s, is being restored by its owners after two devastating fires.

The venue is remembered fondly by locals for its food, trivia nights, and lively piano sing-alongs.

"It was good — the food was good," said John Fitzpatrick of West Roxbury

"We used to go on trivia night during the week. They had a piano bar too, so it was a good time," Ken Black, a former customer from Somerville, said.

The sing-alongs, led by pianist Mel Stiller, were legendary, and the current owners are working to revive that experience.

"It's going to be a German beer hall, it's going to have a German menu, it's going to have a lot of beers on tap, it's going to have the piano player," said Jacob Simmons, part of the property group restoring the historic venue."

Simmons and his team first attempted to save the building after a fire damaged it in 2018. However, after painstakingly rebuilding the bar, another fire struck in 2024, gutting the property.


"It was beyond painful," Simmons said, but the team has decided to try again.

"We were kind of lucky—when the fire happened, we actually had a lot of the memorabilia stored off-site in a little shipping container," Simmons said. "A lot of what you're going to see on the walls when you come back is literally the same stuff you saw before—there's old patents, old pictures of wait staff from the early 20th century—it's gonna be cool."

"The restoration aims to bring back the charm and history of Jacob Wirth, preserving its legacy for future visitors."

I have to disagree with Jeff's guess. The mis-spelling is in the article. The old Hillbilly Ranch, along with Jacob Wirth's, was on Eliot Street which eventually, over time, was renamed to Stuart Street, and further, into Chinatown, Kneeland Street, ending at Atlantic Avenue @ the South Station train & bus terminals.
Some old Wirth bottles have "Elliot" St. Instead of "Eliot St., but the original street was called Eliot St.
" Eliot Street in downtown Boston is named after John Eliot (c. 1604–1690), a prominent Puritan missionary, pastor of the First Church in Roxbury, and an early leader in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. "
"thisonehere" has a bottle that could be rare just as the bottles with 2 Ls in Elliot could be.
It would be nice to know how many survived with proper embossing, and how many survived with improper embossing.
I guess that embossing of bottles wasn't particular with mis-spellings or errors back in the day. Unlike printed labels, it would have been quite an expense of time & money to return all bottles to get ones with the exact spellings & texts.
ps. Yes, I now agree with Jeff's findings.

Two letters and kind of a mystery as to what actually happened with this mold. Was it backwards ‘ST’ or two ‘T’ in Eliot? Either way it appears to be a mistake but the question remains. What is the true story behind this particular mistake? It’s like the owl eating the tootsie pop. The world may never know.
