Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

You will find various pieces of porcelain with both of those marks from various fleabay sellers but with the marks almost invariably misidentified.

The ‘Orla’ mark is usually attributed to Triptis AG of Thuringia, Germany (established 1891) but that’s not correct. They did indeed use several ‘Orla’ marks but not that one with the triangle. It’s actually the mark for Porzellanmanufaktur Union Quist & Kowalski in the town of Kleindembach. They were a small producer of household goods of a non-collectible nature. They re-registered that mark on 19 October 1925 but it had already been in use between 1906-1909.

The Bavaria lion mark is usually attributed to Lehmann of Arzberg (C.A. Lehmann & Sohn, established 1895 and closed 1937) but that’s also not correct. There’s no record of them ever having used that mark and it’s currently regarded as a generic mark from an unknown producer.
