Found this puppy today. It amazes me how a metal detector works. This came across with just a slightest hum. 9 out of 10 times I wouldn't even bother to dig a signal like that ( not after today). Also it was only buried 3-4 Inches. It's also killing me it's a class ring(10k), I know I should do the right thing and try to track down the original owner. Enjoy!!

I don't think I need to add what I would do. For those who think they may scrap it, when its returned is missing the point.

Good luck.

If I could return a medieval ring to the surviving family, I would. Value/price has no meaning.

And I adopt handicapped homeless animals.... So are you better than me cause I think it'd suck if you returned the ring and they scraped it? Notice I didn't say to not return it, I said to find the owner if possible.

Man, That's a Big one too!...Ive been dying to find a Class ring...Hopefully if you find the Owner, they will be appreciative...Great Find!

Firstly notice I said for 'those that think'. This is not aimed at you, I have my ways, others have theirs. I'm no better than anyone on here. My original point still stands; which is, whatever they do to it makes no difference, my first & only thought is returning.

I'm glad your giving those poor animals a home, that's a nice thing to do.

Congratulations on the Monster Golden Ticket! :hello2:

Great Find! Nearly all American high schools have a yearbook archive in their library.
Telephone the school, ask for the lead librarian, explain your find and intent to return the ring. She/he may give you the man's (owner's...I am assuming based on the size of the ring,) possible names with the same initials. The man would be about 60 years old now. Facebook and other social media sites will probably help you quickly find him. With a little detective work, you will have quite a story and kudos from all of us here on TNet! Sub

Thanks. I was quick to take offense, sorry.

It only gives a slight hum at 3 inches...what detector are you using?

Excal ll. I know, when I scooped it on the first dig I was like. Whoa!!!!! Rescanned the hole too.

Thats OK, I often put things in a strange way. I do have an over the top view of returning anything that I stand a chance of getting back to the owner. I can't think any different, it just seems right.

Hard to do sometimes, returning rings if you can..been there, but when u see the emotion on the persons face ..all worth it..I believe in karma in this hobby just leads u to more treasure. Congrats on a great find.

GREAT RING

Thats one gorgeous ring one waay to beautiful to sell for scrap even if the price was 600$, I would like to think that I would do my darndest to find the original owner or closest relative . I also think the joy of the person who lost it would be worth much more than the melt value , or if God forbid that person has passed on the joy the persons next of kin would have . wow 1971 thats the year I was born. Would have been groovy for me to find it Just do your best to do the right thing . DAVERS:thumbsup:

Update: found the school and emailed the librarian. She does have a collection of past yearbooks. She said she would look thru and this years for these initials. I think they were on siding break last week so they should be back to school this week. Also, writing the email was easy, hitting the send button HARD!!!
