Beautiful pics!

Just a little hint...they're not fat, birds when cold do a "ruffle". Ruffling up feathers keeps them warmer. Domestic fowl do the same.

When a bird ruffles it is chilled and its ruffled feathers trap a layer of warm air around the bird

An average chicken has 8,500 feathers. That makes for a warm coat. Like her wild bird cousins, a chicken will fluff up, trap air under her down, and stay cozy, even in below freezing temperatures.

Great pics. Those cardinals sure are a beautiful bird. :icon_thumright:

Nice pictures man. They're all well taken photos but I would have to say the male cardinal is my favorite. I've been keeping them fat and happy here too through the winter, mostly the small guys that winter over but there is a cardinal that feeds daily. What type of bird is that in your avatar?

Looks like a cooper's or red-tailed hawk to me, in his avatar.............NGE

Thanks for the kind words. The bird in my avatar is a Coopers Hawk, I posted a few pics a while back, tough bird to photo.
