We have a juvenile red tailed hawk hanging around. He’s chasing birds coming to my feeder. He’s awful big and clumsy trying to maneuver around the trees in the yard. I’ve never seen one trying to catch small birds before. I did find a pile of nuthatch feathers in the yard so maybe he’s succeeding.

Love the hawks. Around here they seem to prefer mice and sometimes squirrels. Never seen one near the bird feeders.

We have the Kestrel hawk that takes out the song birds at the feeder. Doesn't happen all that often but in the winter a few spot of red on the snow and feathers is the tall tale sign of what happened.

I have a photo one sitting in the tree after it took out a morning dove, they hit the large window, and rod iron railing on the deck.
It sat in the tree for 30 minutes looking around. (probably embarrassed)

Hawks get a lot of doves around the feeders here. Mostly in the winter.
