Man, you just might be on to something good. The button marked pewter is, I am pretty sure, an 1812-1815 script I button. There is a small circle at the bottom of the button that may have a small number in it to indicate a Regiment. Turn your button 90 degrees to the left. Regards.

I can't make it out, magnification doesn't help.

You have a great collection of buttons, congratulations! I see the "P.O.D." button being a post 1870's Post Office Department button. The pewter "Script I over an oval (probably with a number inside of it) being a War of 1812 US Army Infantry button. The concave button appears to be a British War of 1812 3rd Artillery(?)..if that is a flaming bomb engraved on it. Happy Hunting, Sub

P.O.D. That's what I thought also "post office Department"
Probably correct again, flaming bomb. But not engraved rather Punched or stamped out?

That Script I is nice, I think I see a '1' in the circle?

The silver 3 is very interesting, I hope IP chimes in soon. As its silver we can assume its an Officer Button, the rest is icing!
