Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I have posted here. Back in February before all this Covid stuff happened I shipped off for military training and returned in May. With Covid and all, things have been fairly slow. Anyway I and a friend managed to get out here and there and find some ok finds. First place we went was a site where I found the complete eye glasses. I didn’t have much luck there that day but I don’t know how, but my friend managed to find another three silvers, all being Spanish and a copper. Two of the silvers were pierced which is fairly common. We were hoping for another nice American silver... earlier that day I did a field by myself and found another 1896s barber quarter. A few months later we went to another promising site which we thought could be hit... well, it was... HOWEVER whoever did it missed a nice target. My friend scored a nice 1797 2 reale... I got a stinking 1817 copper... haha. However it was now my turn... about a month or so later we returned to one of our hotspots. ( same site that produced the 1818 bust quarter and gold ring). Going through an area slowly I got an obvious signal and while digging saw that beautiful sight of silver. Not knowing what I had I checked the rim real quick and saw it was reeded. Another capped bust dime!! This time from 1823. I was really happy to find another capped bust coin. I am glad to have found it even if it meant my friend finding more Spanish silvers up until then. I know he would have rather had one nice American silver than a dozen Spanish silvers. Coming up in a week or so I’ll be doing another detecting trip, some amazing sites are lined up so hopefully I’ll have some neat things to post!
