I was able to get out this afternoon for a couple hours in a portion of a former barracks that was iron infested with old period square nails. About ten minutes in to detecting I pulled up a coat size Artillery button with a United States back mark. I soon realized the mosquitoes were extra hungry so I had to make my way back to my truck for a double shot of repellent. About 30 minutes later while working through the iron I hear a good deep signal. About 15 inches down I pulled out this cool heel plate. Only my second one from there. About 30 minutes later I decided to head back to my truck when I got a decent signal. I dug down about ten inches and out pops this cuff sized artillery button.
