The spectacle buckle has one of the longest timeframes. Started in the late medieval (16th C maybe a little earlier) until the early 18th C. The larger type like this are generally later & yours is probably mid 17th C. They were used on everything, purses, belts, horses etc.. Yours is probably a sword belt type but nearly impossible to guess.
