I finally got back out to my 1848 plantation. I've been MD-ing the place for about a month or so and after more efforts researching the property at the courthouse through public records, I finally located the old property boundaries. The boundaries weren't measured in feet and inches but rather in chains and links! I had never heard of this type of measurement. I also learned of two barns (no longer evident) that were on the plantation.
Here are my best finds of the weekend and any comment are encouraged!

I don't know how old this is but I'm thinking not very old. It's a level and has glass vials of which 2 are still intact.

I'm not real sure about this either. It resembles a slimmed down version of a hatchet.
