It was just after I started searching that I remembered the guy who owned the house was an acquaintance of mine - his son and my son went to the same school, and he was an avid deer hunter (which explains the arrow and bullets..we DON'T live in a high crime neighborhood)!

Happy hunting,
Nat

Natman,

I am going to test your theory. Even though I haven't had direct contact yet with the RE, I did a seach on the web of a local RE company and found this house not far from where I live. Built in 1949 and sets on 5 acres and is pretty run down. I submitted a request on the website to talk with someone from their office about requesting permission to detect there. Will see what kind of response I get. If this doesn't work, I will try calling them first and see if that improves my chances.

I will keep everyone posted on the results.

Scott

Thanks all, I had fun with the yard and fun posting.

Thanks Fyrfighter, I'll add that to my list! I had no idea what that thing was.

Scott, good luck, looks like a promising site. The way I went about it was this..I told them my name and where I live, then I told them I had a "very strange request". It was then I asked flat out if I could check the yard around the house with my metal detector.

If it doesn't work out, call another agent. Each time when given the OK, I told them I appreciated it very much and even asked if they would like me to leave my number in case they wanted to contact me (securing their trust). Each time they said it wasn't necessary.

HH,
Nat

Very Nice Finds... What a nice mix of finds. Be careful with the old shells though especially if the primers are corroded...HH MidnightGuy
