I got back yesterday morning for a 3hr hunt to my latest permission and found a couple more silvers. You can see from the picture I took at the front east side of the school, looking down a line of old Maple trees I'm fairly certain this was a pathway leading to the side of the school. My first find was the 1915 Dime, followed by the 1929 Nickel, the 1961 Quarter and the 1955 Dime. All of these silvers I found mixed in with the gravel of the 'old pathway'. The little aluminum heart bracelet came from just off the side of the path in a flowerbed. The 'Holly' brooch and the 'holed' US 1967 Penny came from a grassy area near the front of the school.

Last night, while researching my 1878 map, I'm pretty certain I identified the location of an early church / house site a 1/2 mile east of here on the same road. Also, the friendly ladies who stopped to chat with me on Saturday morning told me about an old archeological site in the middle of a field 1/4 mile north of here on the same property as the school. I hope to investigate both of these areas this afternoon, I'll let you know if I find anything.

Thanks very much for looking,
Dave
PS. In my last picture you'll find 'The Word of the Day'. :laughing9:

Check Ebay for the area you live. You may run across an old postcard or picture of the school which could aid you. Also, local historical society could have old pics of school. Nice finds.

That 67 copper memorial must have had some significance is that persons life to hole a penny like that.

Nice mitt full of recoveries once again Dave, best of luck on the return hunts this weekend. We have about another 4-5 days then it's below freezing for the next few weeks looking at the longterm forecast, so I guess the digging is coming to an end. :(

Hi Tom! :hello:
I went back here again yesterday and found an 1859 Canadian LC.
I also detected the periphery of the old archeology dig site yesterday, will post all the finds this afternoon.

Hope you're doing well my friend,
Dave

Way to go, nice finds and silver!

Thank you scruggs!
Hope that you're having a good year,
Dave

Thanks for your post and for all of your likes to the others who posted to my thread Tommy! :icon_thumright:
I like your analogy on how the ground coughs up the goods! :laughing7:

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate the site of the church as yet.
I've detected at least five fields in an attempt to find it but without success. :dontknow:

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Great finds. Sweet site! [emoji106]

Thanks K1D, I appreciate your support... on both websites! :laughing7:
Dave

Thanks for your post Kevin! :occasion14:
I'm thinking the aluminum lid is from a cold cream jar, personally I just like the cypher on the lid.
Dave

Congrats on some great finds.

Thank you Sir Trezurehunter! :icon_salut:

Thanks very much for the tip King, I'll post a c1940 picture of the school at the end of this thread.
In the older pic I noticed a swing set is visible where a gravel driveway is now located.
Dave

Great research, nice finds.
Congratulations.

Thanks for your post 'Deplorable'! :laughing7:

Great silver.

Interesting theory Mark.
This school was closed in 1968, Canada's 100th Birthday was in 1967, so who knows maybe it was a souvenir from a trip to the US. :icon_scratch:

Thanks for your support,
Dave

I hear you about the cold weather coming Jim. :sadsmiley:
There are far too many sites to detect and we have so little time left.

Talk to you soon!
Dave
