Bummer! I wrote this all out once and thought I had it saved and just discovered I didn't! Ah well. Went to the beach this morning. It was dark when I left and I wanted to get there just as dawn was breaking. I did it. But it was also starting to sprinkle. Well - no matter I was planning on getting wet anyway so what was a little rain as long as there was not thunder or lightening. I got in the water and hunted for an hour and a half but no hits. Mmmmmm I must be doing something wrong here. NO HITS AT ALL! So I decided to try up on the dry sand.
I found a frisbee and a really nice boogie board left in the sand. I put them up on a picnic table and figured I'd take them home with me when I left. I started getting hits right off the bat. Pennies, pulltabs, beer caps, all kinds of junk. Two rusted nails, a (can't remember what you call it but you use them to attach fence to posts) it was also rusted. I would hate to step on any of those things and it is a pretty beach! A couple park employess came by and said hello and I said hi back. Was I finding anything they said and I said not yet but I'm hoping. Right about then I got a really good hit. It turned out to be a big railroad-spike-looking thing. Very big and very heavy. Too heavy for me to carry around so I took it over and showed it to the park employees. YES! one of them said. That is mine! I've been looking for that for two days. It is one of my tools! Heh heh OK he got it back. I didn't think to take a picture of it first. Ah well.
I found a sinker, a jeans button (I seem to find a lot of those) Either people are in a hurry to get their clothes off to get in the water or..... whatever.
I also found a real nice fishing lure and it was way too far up on the dry sand and buried about a foot down to be washed up. I wouldn't want to step on this either. To new looking to have been there for very long.
As for jewelry finds well.... I only found this cute little elephant this morning and it really isn't jewelry. It is just some tin-like thing that staples onto a handbag or shoe or clothing of some sort. You can see by the back the two little things that go through to clamp it on. So much for my jewerly finds.
I ended up with a total of $1.53 in clad and oh yeah, the park employee's took the frisbee and the boogie board. Ah well they weren't mine anyway. I had a good day. I hope yours went as well or better
