Most people wouldn't work for 3 cents a day, but I would. IH, 2 wheats and buttons.

I had my first full day to detect since I came back from the DIV in November. It was a perfect morning. I had my coffee and I was in the field by 7:20. I started the day out in a spot we have been hitting since March and targets are few and far between at this point. I found 3 flat buttons in the main field all pretty much in a straight line of each other. 2 small buttons, probably smaller than half dimes and one other about the size of a nickel or perhaps a bit bigger with a back mark of "Standard Colour" with arrows at the bottom facing left. I moved to a different spot on the property with no luck, then ventured onto another area where it has produced but it's littered with tons of trash, old trash, but trash nonetheless. lol I managed to squeak out 2 wheat pennies, 1917 and a 1944 and a really nice 1905 Indian Head.

I called it quits at this site after that and called my cousin and hooked up with him at a farm in Clarke County, VA. I recently have let his dad have my ace 250 to try out and my cousin used it in behind a, at one time, log cabin(it's been kinda redone since) and he found a very worn King George I or II. So I told him I'd definitely be down this weekend to see what we can pull outta there! So we go at it, he went one way, I went another. Well...not too much luck. I got a few buckles, 2 iron and 1 small brass buckle. Right as the sun was going down I pull out a large Dandy button with a design of arrows on the front facing clock wise. Then I found what looks like a finial piece after that. Right before there was no light at all I pull a penny size flat button out that was probably 15 inches down. Strange thing is it was a LOUD tone. Funniest part is, I dig and I find the flat button first...run the coil back over the hole and there's more and then I find a nail. Run it back over then a better tone and I dig down about 18 inches and see some pottery then pull out a large iron hinge looking item.

Even though today wasn't killer by any means, nothing can beat this hobby in my book. After the tragedy that has happened yesterday it's just a blessing to enjoy this beautiful life we take for granted sometimes. Take care and happy hunting!

that flat button in the last pic, i found that same button a couple weeks ago, cool

This will sound strange, but I recognized that button from your VA finds photos. Dug an identical one in Southern Indiana several years ago. Here's the post. It is in the first photos, then on down in the first reply is a cleaned up photo. Congrats on some great finds!

Actually if you look closer yours has a unique design as to where mine just has the arrows. Pretty similar in style though. I'm guessing these large style dandy buttons were pretty common in the late 1700's. I love finding them, but they always trick ya into thinking ya got a large copper down in that hole! lol Thanks for looking.

Love the buttons and pennies. Thats hunting in my book. Cant wait till I get my new f75. I have been working a dinasour for a couple years now, I find good stuff but know I can do better . Congrats on time well spent.

How many coins/relics have you dug in 2012 Matt? Has to be a bunch. HH, Quindy.

I will do a year end tally soon, Quindy! With only 2 properties to hunt, I've gotten a lot more than I expected! Thanks to the F75!
