still worth it.... most of the time when Brandon and I get together to md i take my prius.
since he lives way down south of me...i use like one gallon of gas there and one gallon back.
where if i took my SUV it would take like ten gallons round trip.
at some point they will find another type of material that is not rare or in short supply.
....and im so not a tree hugger!

What happens in a few years when those Lithium Ion batteries don't hold a charge anymore, like in a laptop, and your quote for a new set is half the price of the car?

Yeah, and lets all buy American !!!! Now how's that goin for ya ? Had to order some spark plugs for a Saturn the other day, guess what we got from a chevrolet dealership ? Some NGK sparkplugs that had the name Honda on the box. Oh but they were smart enough to try and cover it up with a sticker that acually said Genuine G.M. Go figure !

Oh and those hybrids, you can keep em. I might think about gettin one when the cost of batteries go down, those things don't last forever you know !

i think they might last longer than American crap cars!

Warranties don't cover normal wear and tear and the life expectancy of the batteries is longer than the warranty I'll bet. 5-7 years perhaps I'm guessing.

Personally, I like my Toyota 4Runner... everyone in our family has one, including myself.
Kells... I don't even wanna THINK of how much gas my poor truck would suck if I drove up there. But I kinda owe you, and really should go up there sometime so we can do some MDing together again! It feels like it's been forever since we've gotten together. Maybe some weekend we can do it again, since that's the only time I'm off work.

I worry about accidents with those things. Battery acid burns are nothing to joke about. I'd hate to be trapped in one of those cars with acid dripping on me. Fires would spook me a little too, not that a regular car in flames is any picnic.

I Like the look of the Prius

I'd like to buy one & Put a flat 6 in it
but it probably wouldn't fit.

and if it does it would
probably sit with the
butt end up in the air.

if it runs like this
it would be a bonus

The Prius batteries are nickel metal hydride, not as dense, so it does not hold a charge as long,
But the battery is cheaper and lasts longer, but as to how long I am not sure. I have a 2004 and its still running fine and getting 60 MPG at the moment (in the winter it will drop to 45-50 MPG)

I would buy American if they would made a car more efficient then the Prius, but costs the same or less. Until then I have no sympathy for companies that make inferior cars.

HH,
Donny

(Oh, and I am not a tree hugger, I just like paying less for gas ;D )

As hybrid cars gobble rare metals, shortage looms.

Sort of Hypocritical to buy one then Huh ?

Depends on which mineral you are depleting. If it isn't a politically correct (read OIL) mineral, you should leave it in the ground. If it forwards a particular agenda, then it's just a shame that there isn't more of it.

Screwed up thinking, would you agree? In either case, when its gone its gone. So let em have at it, when there is nothing left, we can get back to drilling for oil until the next fad comes along.

That's right, it's a POLITICAL FAD. There is nothing about the environment concerning the companies building these vehicles, the governments promoting them (they all still use their massive SUV's that make my Jeep Cherokee look like a tinker toy), or the dealers selling them.

The end users are environmentally conscious, but they're the only ones. The rest of them would still be pushing the internal combustion engine if it were more profitable, or they hadn't found a way to make money off of an "imaginary" shortage. Heck, even the University of Chicago --- in the Messiah's home district --- says we haven't reached peak oil when figuring in the reserves recently discovered in the U.S.

But it feels so good to be politikally korrect!!!

I have no problem with trees
We need them for Paper & Homes

But I Dislike Flowers, Shrubs & Tiny Trees
of any kind.

Everytime I Mow grass & I see Flowers
or shrubs or a fresh tree
I Have an Overpowering Magnetism
that draws me to them and
Makes me Mow them down.

you mow down flowers?
what like wildflowers? or ones your neighbors have planted?
if you do mow down wildflowers dont they just spread...like the seeds
that come from them blow all over the lawn and make more little
flowers?
