moving sand underwater

Has anyone ever tried using the exhaust of a jet powered outboard or inboard to move sand on a wreck site? Seems like you could hook a 2" or 3" fire hose up to the lower unit and blow sand with it. Anyone ever tried it?

The problem you have to overcome is if your exhaust from the engine is
mixed with the water output. If it is you can blow your engine up by creating
substantial back pressure by attempting to send the exhaust down the hose
to where you are attempting to move the sand.

I had two 90 hp Yamaha jet drive outboards and we had aluminium manifolds fabricated
with two 3 inch elbows with male cam lock quick disconnects and a two inch aluminum
exhaust in the middle plumbing away the exhaust - so it wasn't mixed with the water pressure
lines.

If I remember correctly Bob Weller used a jet boat with a deflector plate.

I have a evinrude/OMC 30 hp outboard engine with a durajet on it.Mine came from the navy seals,they use them alot.The durajet is made in orlando and they make a collar attachment that mounts to the jet opening to hook up a fire hose for water or dredging.
