Hi. New to the forum. I've had an MXT all pro for about 1 year now. Have had real good results using it in the c&j mode, and now experimenting more in the relic mode on the same sites for more depth. I read on one of the old threads here about using it in the prospecting mode for coins. But when I go to that mode it sounds like the pinpointing mode is turned on full time. Is this normal? ( I'm mostly interested in old coins.)
Thanks

Edit --it does give me the proper readouts on the screen. It's just the tone that I'm concerned about

Nobody frequenting here have an MXT all pro?

Perhaps you should go over to the White's forum, I think you will find what you are looking for

OK
thot this was the whites forum. didn't realize there was another.

I have the older MXT and run with trigger forward which gives me a high tone for anything not discriminated out, with the trigger in the center position you hear an iron grunt for everything below the disc. setting this is what your probably hearing. Try running trigger forward but the newer MXTs I hear you can run multi tone in relic mode by starting in C/G mode first, I think the modes might be a little different but I don't think it's much and Whites has their own Web forum this would be the place to find how to get multi tone if you would want that in relic mode. HH

Yea. the trigger on the mxt pro only pinpoints. I've experimented with switching modes after on. maybe I need to start in coin and then go to prospecting. Thanks

Hunting in Prospecting mode will sound like its in pinpoint mode. I use the relic mode with the coin and jewelry sounds. It seems to make the detector more stable and a little more sensitive. I dont hunt in prospecting mode as the extra noise would drive me nuts. On the original MXT running with the trigger forward was a notch feature that notched out pull tabs I believe. I wish that was still the case on the MXT pro. Now it just puts it into constant pinpoint mode.

I don't know about prospecting mode but the original MXTs trigger forward in relic mode makes everything below the disc. silent and a high tone for everything above the disc. setting. I think you'll get more depth for coins and jewelry with the relic mode.HH

I run my original MXT in relic mode 75% of the time even coin hunting.
While hunting coins I run the Trigger forward as I don't need to here iron/foil.

I recommend relic mode. It seems quiter and more stable.

The MXT is more stable in the default Relic mode with the trigger in the middle on the E-series and the 300 models but on the pro the standard relic mode is the way to go, If you want the same type of depth on the Pro/All Pro as you get in the prospect mode where you listen for the 3rd (third) tone, = Mixed mode/All metal mode then turn on the machine and press the musical Note Button once and listen for a signal that sounds like a slight raise in threshold which is the 3rd Tone A/M ID that signals the user that there is a target way down deep beyond discrimination range that depending on the targets size can add a couple of inches to well over a foot of extra depth, So what you are actually doing is using your MXT like you would a TDI or an ML GPX where you listen for that waver in the threshold and that is how you find the deep targets,

Hope that helps.

J.
