My three favorite resources are books by Gary Drayton, Clive James Clynick as well as "The Detecting Lifestyle Podcast". Check out the first two if you want to read some great stuff. They have completely different personalities, yet there is no argument that their finds are remarkable.....to make it simple.

Gary and Clive have both answered many of my emails personally and are both very friendly & informative, as well as just plain old great guys. I have learned soooooooo much from both of their books and today it finally paid off !!!!!!!

In my research I keep seeing the same theme "Watch Your Beaches". In other words, look at it daily....what's different? Anything new? Are there HUGE new rocks visible that were covered with sand yesterday. I decided to work around the base and the gaps in the now exposed rock formations with my pro-pointer. within seconds of working the base of this 4x4 foot slab of stone, I nailed a men's silver wedding band. With our high tide slowly approaching 3 feet (sarcasm) I decided to work newly visible rock formations as well as yesterday's towel line including the dune's bases and all the entrance areas. I started at 6AM ..... loving the MXT PRO Backlit VDI too !!!!!!. Until 11:30 I had all clad .... lots of greenies ( the renourishment sand on the towel line is allegedly from a lake / pond in Orlando ). Remember, even replenishment sand comes from somewhere !
For my last half hour I said to myself "I'll just work where the base of the dune where the dune meets the dry sand ....... Furthermore I will discriminate the hell out of the base and only be digging coins period. INCREDIBLY I found a Walking Liberty Half !!!!! It read a LOUD 93 on my Whites MXT VDI and would not fluctuate. I pinpointed it at 11" and actually had to use my Garrett pinpointer to locate it ( I love that thing ) I pulled it out and couldn't believe it....A Walking Liberty. So worn out I can not even red the date !!!!! ( even after a thorough cleaning) but still a Walking Liberty !!!!!! I know that in the world of MD'ing this is not a huge find, but for me it is !!!! I am starting to understand the beach, how it works and where it holds the goodies. How tides work, where to look, where to discriminate and when not to. What to grid and what to quickly scan.....It's starting to all make sense.......I LOVE THIS DAMN HOBBY !!!!!!!!!!!

Well congratulations on your find... I know that metal detecting is like an art... You never stop learning how to make your search better and better every time...

Congrats on your finds treasurecoasteric! You're right that sand comes from somewhere and may hold goodies.

Big Congrats on your silver Walker! WOW! :notworthy: I'd be doing flips if I dug a Walker at our beaches here -- well, aged me doing arthritic flips that is, lol HAVE FUN! Andi

We'd be doing, not flips, but flops, my friend. My back is as tight as a banjo string, too!!! I re-married, and I have a little Junior digger; a 4 year old who will be my official "Pirate Treasure" digger! AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Congrats on your finds treasurecoasteric! You're right that sand comes from somewhere and may hold goodies.

I happened to have found an 1837 Capped bust in that stuff.
You should be real happy that coin is is extremely good condition after spending a good long time in water before being transported to a saltwater Beach... What's the other side look like?
You even found a silver ring using nothing but your pinpointer around a rock that's amazing. How deep was it?

Sorry for all the photos its just a regular thing especially if I'm going to be cleaning an object I mean what if the cleaning process destroyed what was left of it then you would have absolutely no record did you take any before photos of this coin?
Here's another one from that spot

You know what Gator Boy?

You get images of them all from the Arrowhead Ranch. They run a camp for troubled kids out west that uses metal detecting to help the kids learn discipline, responsibility etc. They will be used for one of their seeded hunts for the kids. I donated those coins to them a few weeks ago.

Also Gator Boy .......... you run the blog !!!!!
I have seen identical items featured here and on the treasure coast report.
The same exact finds.

Now its impossible for trucked in sand to contain old coins? Its also impossible to find a ring with a pro pointer?
Have you completely lost your mind or are you really Magneto?

Maybe you're just an *******

The only reason you see identical finds is because I actively take part in sending emails and reporting things I found and giving updates on different areas of the coast.
That's all described in the blog if you were to actually read it you would know that.
I don't know where you're coming up with these accusations that I never wrote ... You simply use the words Treasure Coast in your forum name and I happen to be a Treasure Coast resident for the last 30 years and am interested in what someone else is finding on the same stretch of coastline I frequent on a regular basis... Hardly investigating you.
I just thought you might like to see more finds from the same area because when I do it makes me feel a little excited about the chances of me finding more

Hey my oldest beach coin was a wheatie! And I was proud of it! Lol. This reminds me if a local hunter in an area where I travel to beach detect. He found over a dozen mint condition silver coins in a small area on wet sand. He figured a widower had dumped her husbands coin collection on the beach. Go figure dunno? All I find are red and greens! I'm happy just to find copper pennies.

Dude, lighten up. GB wasn't "investigating " you.

Nice find on the half dollar. And great job cleaning it up, how long did the electrolysis take?

I read majority of the posts as well, i enjoy the tale of someone else's hunt and viewing the recovered items as well. GB is not the beach report blogger, and being 3rd generation St.Lucie kid, the real treasure coast :p, I also have attended school with Gb. His knowledge is vast and extremely insightful, it seems as if the lack of context in an interwebz forum tend to lead people into mentally making the tone and context of the post which may not be the intended meaning by the poster. If you don't want interaction from forum members don't post. Otherwise you both are more then welcome to come over for some java and scones and we can hash out your disagreements in the back yard. Nice finds on both the ring and quarter. And you don't need a forum of any kind to enjoy your time with the hobby. Someone is going to new to step up and be the more evolved human. In closing lets get together and hunt some medians at the wal Mart parking lot, I'll show you some real fun.

Gator that's an awesome bust , was that in sand or muck , I hunt a lot of bays here and get them black silvers too , but they usually delaminate and flake to crumbles after pulling out of water!

I took that photo fairly quickly before the major delamination happened.. because it did unfortunately.
I found it in muck/sand mix.. it was completely encrusted in a shell that I like to call a cookie.
