I am using a MXT pro with the elliptical Double D coil, and I just don't know what to think. I am ususally a relic hunter, but have been using the machine for a few days hunting old houses. It seems to me that this coil does not get much depth? Is it my imagination, or would I be better off using the larger coil? I can did out a plug and go over the plug and hear nothing, then I go over the hole and nothing, so I smash down the clod of soil with my food and then I hear the coin. I just think that coil should be hearing that coin in a clod of dirt three inches thick.

What size coil? Buy it new? Chinese money saving coil or a reputable brand?

ANY size coil (known brands) in good shape would be able to pick up almost any size target in a 3" thick clod.

Coil is damaged/bad , settings are WAY off, machine is in need of repair.
Do you have a another coil to compare with?

Fella nailed it. There could be many reasons why you couldn't pick up the coin Including dirt in the coil cover, to much disc till you stepped on the plug to get a better field.
