Been going over old maps the farm has been there from 1884 or that's the 1st records I can find also all the hedge lines are the same so ill start with them I'm new to this only just started so any advice would be great
I was thinking of walking the hedge line 1st the working round to the centers of each field

GOOD LUCK....Take your time & you should find.

I'm sure guys spent a lot of time building the stone fences.

You may want to concentrate on earlier times though.

Don't forget to give the bloke a gift of something for your fun time. Feel him out, what he likes.

Let us know what you find.

Nicely done, keep us posted

How cool, I wish you the best. Keep us posted and HH

It can be this easy sometimes....

Something we have learnt over the years is to get a map of 'all' his fields. They normally can give you boundry map copies or take a walkers map & ask him to mark it. This can be important for 2 reasons. 1 you will not go on other farmers land by accident which can get you into trouble & a bad name with that farmers neighbour. 2 it means you can do more targetted searching after looking closely looking at all the timelines on google earth. Otherwise you are detecting blind.

Most importantly, have you made an agreement what happens to Treasure, because if you have no agreement that is a 50/50 split (for example, it could be 100% if they are crazy) then the Law can come down on the owner's side & you will get nothing.

Treat the farmer good. Most of the farmers know each other. I gave a farmer a $50 gift card to his wife's favorite restaurant. He then got me permission from his neighbor and his brother inlaw, who got me permission from his neighbor. The whole thing snow balled into lots of fun digs. Good luck!

Enjoy it and keep us posted! You should get a hammered or two.
