At work I’m know as “the Ebay guy” for the fantastic buy low, sell HIGH deals I stumble on. I was at a yard sale and saw these 2 – Vanderbilt Grand Prix pendants from the 1915 San Francisco Exposition. I was thinking how much on Ebay and how much will I pay $25- $50. When I asked about price, the lady said how about $2 each. I couldn’t get my money out fast enough. When I tell the story at work, I say my only regret is not trying to knock them down to 2 for $3 because I always try and haggle the price down. That gets a good laugh because the next question and answer is, oh, I ONLY got $588.00 for one and $760.00 for the other……….LOL
PS, Remind me to tell you about my Ed Borein etching. There's another rags to riches story.

Re: 1915 Vanderbilt Grand Prix pendants

Isn't this fun? I have been a (junker) for years,
I once bought a Ice tong for $1.00, it was half
price day, a WW2 bayonet for .50 cents, a new
England sleigh for $25.00, he threw in a bucket of
rubber horse shoes, which I sold for $2.00 a set.
Bought a cap & ball rifle for $50.00, sold it for
$150.00, (electric bill was due).
Fossis.............

Sound like a good score.

Awesome finds, SF! A big congrats!!
I like to pick up stuff at auction and eBay them as well, but I've never made a score like that!

Yeah I just sold an item on eBay for LESS than I paid and even with S&H I will come out on the losing end. :'(

I just don't have good luck with eBay. . .

great job silver fox, that is a huge score
