My 30 year collection

Here are pic's of my 30 year collection, I had 10 years worth stolen before I started these.

Most are Caddo, Quapaw, from this area, maybe some Osage from southern MO, they used this area for their hunting grounds, they averaged about six to seven feet tall, I imagine they went where they wanted to, went to a bluff shelter once ,where someone found a skeleton about seven foot tall.
one spearpoint from Texas.

I found about a third, the rest were bought or traded for, the beads are shell, from the Gulf coast, traded to this area.
Pic's are on an angle, to cut out glare. Fossis...............

Very nice points Fossis. I'm right up above you here in Northeast Oklahoma. Nobody can ever say there's a shortage of Kriegers (Garys) in OK, LOL. I love that centerpiece in the 2nd frame (tang), do you have any closer pics of it? Thanks for showing.

Thanks, Matt R , I will post one later.
Fossis....................
PS. It came from the Spiro mounds area , plowed up in the 1950's by descendants of slaves of the Choctaws, (African Americans).

Fossis,

I can only dream of finding points like these. Your collection is stunning!! I'm still drooling over the one I think Matt is referring to. Yep, I would love to see a close up of it too. Thanks for sharing with us!! ;D

Re: My 30 year collection

:D Awsome collection Fossis!

What's the story behind those 10 years worth that were stolen?

~~chupa~~

Re: My 30 year collection

Thanks, the Collection was stolen in broad daylight,
My uncle saw the people, actually had children with them in the yard, he thought they were someone I knew.

A strange car was seen in the neighborhood, with MO tags, but never saw hide nor hair of them again, but (you can't keep a good man down), they say, & life goes on.

Welcome, Fossis................

Re: My 30 year collection

Fossis, here is a cast I done a while back of an "early ovoid". It reminds me alot of what you found. However, if yours is Spiro associated (Caddoan, Harlan or Spiro Phase), then they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. I have done a bit of casting, so thought you may enjoy seeing this piece. ~ Matt

Thanks for sharing Matt, mine was plowed up
in the 1950's on a hill south of the Spiro Mounds, by the
descendants of the freedmen of the Choctaw's, (African's),
who still farm in this area today.
