Hi everyone, i have bought this pair of nephrite jade temple guards and i believe they are authentic. Because there is this replica han dynasty bear on the internet ( google han dynasty jade bear) wich has the same paterns and figure carving as mine but the bear is a replica treated with acid to make it look older. Mine are untreated and hand carved and the arms and heads are made seperate. And they got soil residues in the cut reliefs. 70 cm high and 32 cm wide. the style of the figures is from the sanxingdui culture.

From traveling SE Asia in 1992/93 I saw and learnt a bit.
It seems that they could reproduce just about anything, carve anything, the bury it.
Leave it for years even, dig it up and it was an antique.
Amazing transformation of craftsmanship.

Not saying that yours is or isn't authentic, I'm just very cautious regarding anything from over that way.
Probably your best option is to have an art gallery, antique, auction that deals in that stuff.

yes i know what you mean, the chinese are masters in faking about anything. But just saying that they ask 500.000 for an acid treated fake i rather have mine. But they wil stay here for ever. can't transport them to heavy. And i got them practely as a gift while the owner bought them for what would now be a 1000 euro excl sending to the netherlands.

Congrats! :hello2:
