I got my AT pro in march of 2013..being a complete newbie..well I did have detectors years ago but never really got into metal detecting..now I hooked big time.
AT pro with 5x8 my favorite setup so far with it. many of these were found in hunted out places, and even a 1950 school yard. 1864 Indian head and 1853 seated dime to name a few that were found in a school yard. I have other items not coins to post some real cool stuff. anyway this website is the best and I visit it every night. you guys are very inspirational!!

at the bottom there is a king george 2 young head 1730 the latest I believe ( i have better pics of that one ) and a 1790's or about french coin, Some of the coins are water finds ( like the fired 186? Indian head..salt water beach can do a number on copper.

one of my favorite is the 1883 liberty nickle.. found in an old park one inch from the top on a well traveled path, way better then my other liberty nick, so in my first year I am in the 1700's club and 1800's club..but no solid gold rings yet, I found 14 rings and 4 are gold plated and gold filled, I will post more soon as i can..

top coin so far would be the 1853 seated "love token" that was found in 1 foot of muck in a salt water inlet. ( behind an old stage couch/post office) that is now a house

I have some odd ball stuff that need id so I know this is the place to ask..:treasurechest:
I'm only posting silver coins or coins over 100 years old ,relics and other goodies will follow

I try to detect in areas that most guys would skip by. Im sure the guys posting here do the same because of the find I see posted on this forum are outstanding. Every place I have detected so far has been public owned property. I am just relentless trying to put inatleast 6 hours a week. Many days getting nothing old but you can't find anything if your not swinging. Hell I tried a beach hunt Friday after a snow storm. It was a high of 16 degrees wind chill at 20 below.. I found Nothing but had to try it. I haven't done to much in or near the water.

Those really old near-surface finds in well-trafficked spaces are great fun. Amazing to think how long they've been walked or driven over.
