I can't post a picture as I am on my phone. I normaly go out with a medal detect but the ground here is frozen. I have been geting cabin fever so I thought to my self why don't I go check the Attic of my shop were I have not been in sense moving in. So I climbed in an there it was an old hand crank sowing machine it is rusted the only part that works is the crank Handel.
Do any of you have a method to remove rust from a michine that will not remove what is left of the paint on it.

Ps I'll try to post a pictur later

hmm- snap a picture up there if you think of it-sometimes its the most random thing that is worth the most....that way I can explore your attic from my computer - Im sort of in attic-junk-dumpster withdrawal mode with it being winter..... :)
those sewing machines are all over the place in terms of value...Ive sold a couple of the common ones for like 50..but Im cheap...IM sure if one turned up on Storage Wars - they would say its more like 100 - but then there are some rare ones - just like any other thing......I never ran into enough to really learn about them - old appliances are good....

I'm going to try an get a picture of the machine to day no promises. I'll try to get one of the Attic to think I got most the stuff but there could be something small I didn't see. Think the sowing machine may have belonged to the original owners of the house. The older part of the house was built in 1895 an that machine was an 1899.
Think im going to try to clean it up an put it on display in one of our rooms.

Check the attic real well, like the eves and nooks and crannies someone may have left more than stuff up there! HH!

Will do thanks.

I know it has been a long time but here are the pictures of the sewing mechanic from around1890. IMG_5381.webpIMG_5382.webpIMG_5383.webp

That is called a treadle sewing machine just for your info if you want to research it some more.Too bad you don't have the rest of it.

Ya it missing some parts I saw on eBay. I found the date by looking up the serial number. Thank you for the proper name.

Your welcome my sister has like 6 of them that's how I am familiar with them.

I looked it up my grandmother had one when I was a kid think my mother has it down in Arkansas. The first part of my home I live in was built around 1889 I wounder if it's been here almost as long. Can't wait for the snow to melt I know past all the junk metal there is something good in my yard.
