Went to the site where I found all the silver dollars. Wasn't expecting much, since the last few hunts hadn't given up much. Boy was I wrong again !!

The first hole I dug turned out to be the ONLY hole I dug.

I uncovered a piece of cloth material. I tried to pull it out of the hole, but couldn't. Went to the car and got my shovel. Opened the hole large enough to see it was a large cloth "something". I started to picture a "Bank Bag", but alas it was not. When I finally got it out of the hole, I discovered it was a purse. I turned it over and out fell some loose change. Boy was I happy!!

Then I noticed there was more loose change in the hole. I spent the remainder of the hunt digging and recovering coins from that ONE HOLE !!!

Needless to say, I WILL be going back !!!! Till then, HAPPY HUNTING !!!!

Congrats on that sweet spill, :occasion14: it certainly had more value than the ones I've dug. I have dug 2 larger spills (coin count) but mine were mainly pennies.

When I saw your find I imagine a purse like that lost in the 1880's with the same quantity of seated dimes, quarters, and halves! ....Nice find!

That's a very cool find, I bet it was really exciting!

Too bad you cant get some DNA tested and see who owned it.

That's crazy awesome! Was there ID inside?

There was no ID and the inside was really ragged out. I also found an old ladies wallet that had nothing in it. At first I thought a lot of the coins fell out of the purse, but when I dug two feet away, I found just as many coins.

Not putting down your find, just raising it up.
Most say hoard when they mean spill, you did the opposite...lol

No problem. I figure the right name for it is BONANZA !!! lol

Congratulations on the big spill! :occasion14: Keep at that place more goodies are waiting to be found!

Coin Cache.

Here is an update on the finds at the Silver Dollar lot. These are the best of what I have found so far. Didn't include the hundreds of common coins I also found on the lot.

What kind of place you hunting man.. Don't see caches like that being found at all really. I know they are out there, but the odds of finding one are very slim..That is some exciting digging right there.. Banner!

They tore down an old house in my community and all these came from the lot. Only thing I can figure is the coins were hidden in the house and were scattered during the demolition. It was a once in a lifetime find for me.

Very cool stuff man..my votes in.

They are out there and when you least expect it! [emoji2]

WOW...It's so much easier when you only have to dig one hole. Nice find! :icon_thumright:
