With all the turn of the century Artist paint and supply bottles I was digging from this one pit I could not stay away again this morning I returned with my probe and gave the place some poking ! Glad I did ! Besides a few more bottles I missed !I hit a soild metal object with my probe ! I thought it might be another piece of aggot ware or another bucket with perhaps a few more bottles in it ! I was careful not to pierce it as I collect the aggot ware ! As I started digging it out at a good 18 inches down I could see it was copper ! I was a little more careful after this ! when I finally got it out of the hole I knew what it was immediately and a big smile came across my face ! Turn of the century hammered copper artists Palette . I cant believe my luck this weekend ! :headbang:

I am well on my way to identifying the artist ! I found a metal name placard with just the surname of the person who I believe had the wood artist box that I found in the pit that I think was on the wood artist box that also got thrown away ! I also found hinges and latches that I believe were part of the folding artists case ! I have withholded the name for obvious reasons but the name is a familiar and interesting name among late 19th and early 20th century artist and could turn out to be quite historical ! MaineRelic

Thats sounds like good news MR !!! This item could be banner worthy then , when you are sure let us know !!

thanks Johnny ! I am not sure if I should clean up the Hammered copper Palette or leave the patina as is ??? I do know that I cannot even find one online new or old anywhere on the net ! Everything I research comes up as a jewelry pin ?? MR
