Went to a well known civil war skirmish site and he went into the woods by the field and got this bayonet! Only showing one pic because he is going to post it on his account later. I got the war nickel and skeleton key butt

What a great find! Congrats. Your key is likely the top of a barrel top key as opposed to a skeleton key. Only reason I know is I've dug several and that's the typical look of the bow portion.
