and will continue to fly as such...and will be my daily "snapshot" until the next Election or the next Revolution begins...and ends.

Section 8 of the US Flag Code reads:

No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

I don't see any impeding doom befalling you or your property...thus I believe such display shows great disdain for the United States law.

Half mast if you must but not upside down. That smacks of hippy dippy Liberal activist nonsense to me at least. It is the sort of pop rebellious tripe you'd see behind the band at a Rage Against The Machine concert.

I mean no offense, I'm also afraid the Republic is about to fall, but now it the time to display the flag in all it's respected glory in spite of the upcoming Presidents disdain and scoffing attitude towards it.

I for one don't see this as disrespectful of old glory but rather a proper display to indicate the distress
that this nation is now in and that will accelerate on jan 20. Those of us who haven taken the oath to defend our constitution and country against all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC should recognize that this country and our constitution are, in fact, under attack from domestic enemies from within.
The new commander in chief gives comfort to our foreign enemies while promising to take away the right to free speech via a "fairness doctrine", the right to vote in secret, to appease the unions, who plans for a
"internal security force of 250,000 that is as well equiped as our miltary" to be recruited from the inner cities. These are just the beginnings from an admitted socialist who was elected while wrapped in secrecy
from the liberal media. The next four years will test whether this greatest of nations and our constitution
will retain that greatness. I think this respectful display of "old glory" is right on.

Some old lady made the news a while back because she flew her flag upside down to protest the war in Iraq. Funny, people will use the identical protest method for completely opposite reasons but, everyone has the right to protest. I don't know what made it so newsworthy though, maybe 'cause she was old and lived in a retirement community and others around her didn't agree with her thinking. Flying it upside down is a signal for help and yet the "Don't Tread On Me" flag indicates that no help is needed, we can defend ourselves and the "Rattling" of the snake's tail is fair warning to friend and foe alike that we are capable of doing just that. If the snake flag is accurate, the tail should consist of 13 buttons or rattles representing the 13 original colonies just like the stripes on Old Glory. Seems they should both be upside down if you want to express dire times but, like was said earlier, protest any way you want. Just make note that mine flies right-side-up; always! America's spirit comes from the people, not the government or the politicians so I'm not worried a bit.

I would like to add a few comments as to why I feel the display of "old glory" and the Don't Tread On Me
flag is especially proper at this point in time.
The lower flag is known as the Gadsden flag, designed by Christopher Gadsden of S. Carolina around 1765.
Prior to becoming a colonel in the Revolutionary Army and his presenting this ensign to the Cause, he was
a man very concerned with a government that grows unchecked and "a government that has no limits soon
becomes the master and the citizens become heavily-taxed workers little more than slaves." His words.
To me prophetic words that fit the times and make his flag properly displayed.
My support for "Old Glory" being flown inverted and at half mast at this time, to me, shows no disrespect
but rather a strong belief in all she stands for. I took an oath some years ago to defend all that she stands for and then spent 33 months and 10 days on active duty during the Korean "police action" doing just that
- and to this day. I guess that puts me in the Geezer class, like the lady in the trailer park.
But that aside, the inverted display signals distress - and this country is currently in distress, the constitution
is being strangled to death - half mast -, The Declaration of Independence is morphing into The Declaration of Dependence. This greatest of countries is under attack and the enemy is from within.
I stand with you backerpacker and hope that the American Spirit survives. The Display is right on!

The person at the top is there by way of the vote.  The vote can also remove.  Some find it easier to complain than to use the freedoms we have already to make changes. The American flag is just cloth and thread to some, but to me it much more than that.  It is the symbol of a great country, my country.  Disrespecting that symbol puts you in the same category as those that want to eliminate this country.  I say love it or leave it. (Not my quote.)  If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. (Ditto.) 

I urge you to right my countries flag.  I dissagree with your display, but I will defend your right to do it. (USMC)

Umm...the only "attack" I see is to my stock portfolio, something the last administration has been working on for the past eight years...now that's scary. The new guy has not taken office yet and already everyone cries foul...

the attack on our portfolios is led by the mortgage fiasco orchestrated by chris dodd, barney frank ,clinton,pelosi schumer etc. and our spending 700 billion dollars per year buying foreign oil

I watched a 9/11 documentary about a photograph taken that day. It was a picture of a man as he fell to his fate from the top of one of the burning towers, it was called "Falling Man". Quite a famous picture if you haven't seen it look it up. Poignant and humbling. This video followed as the narrator tried to find the identity of the falling man in the photograph. One of the possible id's was for a Hispanic family who also displayed their flag upside down in the front yard. While it wasn't discussed or explained, I saw it, I registered it. I can only imagine the anguish that led up to making such a bold statement.
I can easily see this coming Presidency as a clear and present danger to America and as such the display could be seen as accurate. The nation seems like it is facing disaster.
The main difference I see is unlike the video I saw, the catastrophe hasn't happened yet.
