Well, I invited one of my friends to one of my favorite formally hunted out parks today. I have a new weapon for turning it into a new park. My 11" DD pro coil came the other day. The first thing I did to it was to silicone seal the coil cover to the coil. I picked a small area that I knew there just had to be more there, Just deeper. I Started swinging and got a double signal under my coil, (I was using iron mask) Had my friend come over with his XLT to see what he could hear. He could only hear one signal, and that was the trash one, he said it was about 5 inches deep. So I dug where he pinpointed and got half a rusted bottlecap, he scanned the hole again and said there nothing left, so I checked it and told him that there was something else in there, so he said prove it. I dug down another 6 inches and pulled a 1929 wheat out, it's in nice shape. He went his way, I stayed in the same area. I was getting warbley sounds all over the place, then it hit me....BAM! my cursor slammed way up to the upper right corner of my screen. On my minelab that only means one thing.....SILVER! At 11" I pulled an almost unc. 1964 Quarter, it was slightly on an angle. I think I'll keep my new coil ;D I also got 4 more wheats, some clad, and alot of much needed excercise.......NGE

I have never found a silver in any city parks in my town 11 years hunting. We have parks that date from 1800's
Maybe I need to upgrade to a minelab.

Awesome finds!!! i would keep that coil as well lol congrats on the silver

Nice job on the deep silver ... congratz and continued success with the new coil!

The hunted out park I like to while away time in was there before statehood in 1907. I have only found one silver dime there in 4 years. I know there is silver there and I am going back over it with my new Safari and see if it is deeper than I have been able to reach before. Great hunt by the way! Monty

Monty, is it possible that years before you that someone has cherry picked that park? I went to a park last year in Endicott, New York that was like that, all kinds of I.H.'s and Wheats, and clad, but no silver! Wheats were only 3 to 4 inches deep! However the machines and accessories available nowadays can and do make your old hunting spots seem like new again. Go for it!..........NGE

Nice finds NGE. Glad to see you are able to finally get out

You're going to have to change your name. Cuz you're getting treasures!

no such thing as hunted out.there are plenty of finds in "hunted out areas"for people who put in the extra time like you have.my park is also"hunted out" but i still pull out the occassional keeper such as a 1899 barber quarter last year and a 43 walker. keep at it there and i gaurantee more finds! wtg and peace, bigrig

I have a Minelab and would suggest that, but have also had a Whites and maybe you keep hunting the same places over and over, try to find some spots that you've not hunted, maybe where brush has been cleared, maybe look for spots you would just pass over as you hunt!! The XLT is a sweet machine and can find its fair share. I also know I had a Park where I didn't find much silver and when I hunted with the Explorer I found MUCH more silver than I ever did with the XLT. Can you increase your finds with a Minelab, I believe you can, but also think if you want to stick with the XLT, try the places you always avoid, just my thoughts!!

I have a couple favorite hunted out Parks I go to and one I hate. The last Park has given me my oldest silver and a ton of Seated/Barber coins, but I can go hours and find nothing, even nails are getting hard to find!! Congrats on the silver!!
